asner: i ll tell you about the golden age of television. this period in time will be looked upon as the platinum age. lear: our obligation is to entertain, and if we ve left something to think about, so much the better. kunta. kunta kinte. television should not be just entertainment. charges were leveled at the commercial television network. congress has no right interfere with the media. well, excuse me! we have a responsibility to give the audience what it tuned in to see. the years of the 60s, which end in a few hours, have a bad reputation that is not entirely justified. some things got worse, obviously, but tv and other news coverage is better, not worse. we simply developed more demanding standards. when i think of tv, i think of the 70s. what is this world coming to? the american public was hungry for more. what was allowed that hadn t been before? it was the last decade where it was a campfire television, where there was one in the living room. i want to watch ....
donald trump hit the campaign trail in iowa last night telling rally goers that the department of justice s case against him is quote, all be f. well, you said the real world, but i can. he also said every time he gets subpoenaed, his poll numbers go up. he s not wrong. trump leads the board for the republican nomination by at least 30 points. that s not good for any of the other 11 candidates. particularly florida governor ron desantis whose campaign in second to trump in the polls but is being hit with words like sagging and stalled. and then there s this. in the last four months donald trump has been indicted twice, and yet, the disgraced former president s campaign says it raised an astounding $35 million in the second quarter. that s double his take in the first three months of the year. joining me now, terrace at meyer, former gop communications director lincoln project senior advisor and resident scholar at the uva center for politics, and former republican con ....
appreciate the opportunity that country blessed us with. american pride is on the decline. 39% of adults took extreme pride in our country, down from three years ago. pride in our nation has been on the decline for 20 years and an interesting distinction, gallup found 60% of republicans were proud and 29% of democrats did. wall street journal released american pride poll of their own earlier this year with just 38% of americans saying patriotism is important to them. at 1998, the figure was 70%. pride is not the only tradition heading out the poll, 39% of americans think religion is very important, down from 62% in 1998. stunning new fox news poll shows majority of americans believe the country s best days are behind us. gallup poll found 70% of americans have no confidence in national government. start there. joe concha to the midstel in the hot seat. what do you think? joe: one other part about this poll that stands out to me. what is the best country live in the ....
