香港電台網站 : 第三台|Backchat|The evolution of the book industry / Black-faced Spoonbill census

On Thursday’s backchat we’re looking at the evolution of the book industry
First, e-books and online retailers hit traditional brick-and-mortar retailers… driving out big players such as Page One and Dymocks from Hong Kong years ago.
But now, are even online retailers in trouble? The UK-based online store, Book Depository, is set to close down after being in business for almost two decades.
This comes after its parent company Amazon announced plans to cut thousands of jobs as it shakes up its businesses globally.
So what’s changed? How will it impact our reading culture?
After 9:45, we’ll look at the latest census on Black-faced Spoonbills in Hong Kong

On Thursday's Backchat: the stamp duty on home purchases is back in the spotlight.
The Financial Secretary has said there are no plans to relax extra taxes for non-permanent residents buying homes in the territory, after Executive Council convenor Regina Ip said it was among policies that could be considered as a way of supporting the local economy and retaining talent.
Mrs Ip later clarified that waiving the property duty was only an idea of her New People's Party, and she would put forward the suggestion to the Chief Executive during his policy address consultations.
After 9.15am, we’ll look at the closure of the 94-year-old Lin Heung Tea House in Central, which has been blamed on the Covid epidemic.
