  Residents of Zamfara State in Northwest Nigeria have raised the alarm over the persisting violence in the state with prevailing cases of bandit attacks, kidnappings and killings of the people.   Some of the residents condemned the state governor, Dauda Lawal for attending social functions like weddings and partying while residents were being killed.   One of the residents of the state, Aliyu Mai Kakee, told SaharaReporters that the people of the state were living in fear as a result of frequent deadly attacks.  

  A Delta State-based, self-proclaimed human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, has declared that he is in “serious debt” and not mentally stable.   Gwamnishu contested to become a member of the Delta State House of Assembly as a candidate of the Labour Party in the March 18, 2023 legislative election but lost.   In a series of Facebook posts on Sunday, Gwamnishu claimed that he owed N110,000,000 and had paid N72,000,000, leaving him with a debt of N38,000,000 to offset.  

Protesting workers gathered at the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja, on Thursday as they locked the minister, Dave Umahi, inside his office.   The workers, who accused Umahi, former Ebonyi State governor, of highhandedness, added that the minister prevented workers who were late to work from gaining access to the ministry.   The union members comprising the Housing and Works Ministry decided to lock up the ministry. The workers also blocked entry and exit into the building thereby preventing the minister from leaving the office premises.  

The Supreme Court has assured Nigerians that the fire outbreak that occurred at the apex court building on Monday morning did not affect any material or anything connected with the presidential election petition.   The Public Relations Officer of the Supreme Court, Festus Akande, who gave the assurance during an interview on Arise TV shortly after the fire incident, said the fire outbreak occurred in one chamber of the court and affected the library, computer gadgets and other equipment.  

  A video has surfaced on the internet showing the ward chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Arigidi, in Akoko North West, Olumide Awolumate, assaulting Dr. Bunmi Osadahun, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development.   SaharaReporters gathered that Osadahun was also attacked by other leaders of the party over the distribution of palliatives aimed at mitigating the impact of the government’s removal of fuel subsidy.
