Viciousness of the accusations but the breakdown of the Santa Clara County jail. Reporter good morning to hat, sam. T od morning to you, kris. This morning the prosecutor declared that this case is about power and the abuse of power. This case against those three jail guards, those defendants, matthew ferris, jeremy lub rinne, thrived on power and control over inmates in the main jail here in downtown san jose. The three men this morning entered the building next to the main jail, the hall of justice. To face trial for a murder of michael tie reese, a 31yearold inmate who was mentally ill found beaten to death in his cell in april of 2015. In a 56minute long opening statement, the prosecutors said they beat him because he had been disrespectful to a jail nurse in the hours before his murder. Inmates are expected to testify that they heard him plead for the guards to stop beating him. That the guards had a reputation for pickin ....
