Vlissingen port cocaine smuggling soars, surpassing official figures by 6.3 tonnes

Cocaine smuggling through the port of Vlissingen appears to be much more rampant than previously thought. A staggering 6,300 kilograms of the drug, beyond what was already a record haul, were discovered to have passed through the port last year, according to new data from the Zeeland-West Brabant police, RTL Nieuws reported.

Teenager fired for not showing up for work wins severance pay in court

A 14-year-old boy fired for not showing up to his Saturday part-time job at a butcher shop in Tilburg has been awarded severance pay by the court. His employer, butcher chain Fons Pessers, must pay the boy 428 euros and cover his legal costs of 892 euros, RTL Nieuws reports based on a ruling recently published by the Zeeland-West Brabant court.

Two Zeeland cops fired for sexual misconduct, improper use of firearms

The Zeeland-West Brabant police fired two cops for sexual misconduct, improper use of firearms, and racism and discrimination in WhatsApp groups. Two other cops were put on probation and transferred to other teams. And another two resigned themselves. All six officers involved worked at the Walcheren unit, where the police appointed new managers early last year to build a safe and inclusive work environment, the police said on Thursday.

Police unions: Failure to prosecute climate activists blocking A12 frustrates police

There was great frustration among police officers who were on duty in The Hague on Saturday at the blockade of the A12 by Extinction Rebellion activists. The failure to prosecute more than 1,500 arrests did not go down well with the police, confirmed Jan Struijs, chairman of the Dutch Police Union, the AD reported. During Saturday's blockade of the A12, 1,579 climate activists were arrested. Most protesters were subsequently released and will not be prosecuted. Furthermore, 40 people were arrested for criminal offenses such as graffiti or insults and will be prosecuted.
