(New Hampshire Primary Source is a regular feature of WMUR s political coverage.)MESSAGE UPDATED. The Democratic National Committee on Monday will update the message on a Manchester billboard first unveiled three weeks ago to now cite President Joe Biden and his administration’s work on making the COVID-19 vaccine widely available and signing the stimulus plan into law.Biden’s 100th day in office will be Friday, and the DNC declares in the new message: “In just 100 days America Is Back on Track. Thank you President Biden!!”The billboard, located at the intersection of Valley and Beech streets, also says “vaccines in arms,” “checks in hands,” “more jobs.”The DNC said the message will be displayed for one week.Backing up the ad, the DNC says that under Biden’s leadership, more than half of U.S. adults have received at last one COVIID-19 vaccine dose and more than 84 million adults, including 363,000 Granite Staters – almost 27 percent of the population of New Hampshire – are fully vaccinated. The DNC says 150 million stimulus checks have been delivered nationally and that New Hampshire families comprising 837,000 adults and 246,500 children will receive payments of as much as $1,400.The DNC also says more than a million jobs have been created since President Biden took office, and it said that the U.S. Department of Labor reported last week that weekly unemployment claims fell to the lowest level since March 2020, when the pandemic began. The Labor Department said first time claims for unemployment insurance totaled 547,000 after reaching a high of more than 6 million in April 2020.In New Hampshire, the unemployment rate has fallen to 3 percent.“As we approach President Biden’s 100th day in office, we want to make sure folks in Manchester know that America is back on track and it’s thanks to the President’s leadership,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison.“President Biden has delivered on a number of promises to the American people, including successfully passing the American Rescue Plan, and now millions of Americans are getting vaccinated every single day, stimulus checks are getting into people’s hands, and more folks are getting back to work. There’s still work ahead of us, but with President Biden and New Hampshire Democrats leading us forward, America is on track to building back better than ever.”

America Comes and Goes. Trans-Atlantic Tensions Are Forever

President Joe Biden’s favorite tag line—“America is back”—featured prominently in his video address to the Munich Security Conference last week. It is a welcome message in Europe after Donald Trump’s presidency, but Biden is returning to a trans-Atlantic alliance marked by new uncertainty and division.
