Ride-hailing unicorn Ola has joined hands with GiveIndia, a Bengaluru-based non-profit organisation, to launch O2forIndia initiative to provide free oxygen concentrators to those in need. Through its philanthropic arm Ola Foundation, the company will be rolling out the service in Bengaluru this week with an initial set of 500 oxygen concentrators. The service will be scaled up to provide 10,000 concentrators across India in the coming weeks, said a press note shared by Ola. Karnataka has entered a full state-wide lockdown from today till May 24, 2021. Till date, the state has reported over 19.3 lakh cases and 18,776 related fatalities. The recent lockdown restrictions have been introduced to break the chain of COVID-19 transmissions in the state.

In a communiqué to Principals of Government Medical Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar besides Sher-I-Kashmir Medical College and Hospital Bemina, Mission Director National Health Mission, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin, has stated that monthly stipend of Rs 5000 will be paid to all such final year MBBS students, under Covid-19 Emergency Response Package (ECRP) 2021-22 of National Health Mission (NHM) J&K , who work for at least 100 days for Covid care in accordance with the notification issued by Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.

Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh receive fresh stock of COVID-19 vaccines ANI | Updated: May 09, 2021 10:54 IST Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 8 (ANI): As states are conducting large-scale vaccination drives against coronavirus, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have received fresh stocks of COVID-19 vaccines. Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar informed that the state received 3.5 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine on Saturday night, while Andhra Pradesh government said that they have received 3.60 lakh doses of the same on Sunday. Karnataka has received a total of 6.5 lakh doses of vaccines out of the two crores ordered, he informed further. He further informed that the central government has so far supplied over 1.1 crore doses.
