Why hasn't the Government banned sugary drinks in schools? And how come KFC is able to promote its chicken as the perfect food for every occasion you could possibly think of?
The evidence for
the addictive qualities of soft drinks and fatty foods is now widely accepted, as is the evidence for the harm they do. Just one statistic: a thousand people a year in this country have a foot or leg amputated because of type 2 diabetes: a disease caused by an excess of sugary and fatty foods.

"My mother lives in a 55+ community. I lived with her for five months last year so I got to know a lot of the neighbours well. It's a new community
so a bunch of people have moved in since I lived there. I moved out of town and I was visiting my mother for a long weekend. While walking my dog I had seen a woman and her dog a few times and was friendly to her, making small talk. One day I ran into a neighbour I knew and she pointed to a house and asked if I had met Dorothy and Squeaks yet. I said I had chatted to her but hadn't officially introduced myself. Later that day I saw the woman and her dog and introduced myself and said, 'and you're Dorothy right?' The lady made an offended face and said 'Dorothy is my dog. My name is Squeaks'. She walked off offended and gave me dirty looks every time we passed."

An apology and cash payment has been made by a public relations consultant to three public health experts who were victims of defamatory online attacks alleged to have been funded by money from Big Sugar and Big Tobacco.
The apology from Carrick Graham came in the opening hours of a defamation case at the High Court in Auckland in which evidence was to be produced showing he had taken money from clients in alcohol and food industries and paid former Whale Oil blogger Cameron Slater to attack public health researchers.

A suspended councillor accused a colleague of not having the guts to talk to him in person and being a dirty politician - it was the third and final complaint made about his "abusive" behaviour.
But ostracised Waikato Regional councillor Fred Lichtwark told the Herald the whole investigation was an example of "how to get shafted when you fall out of favour" after he challenged councillors about the council's governance processes.
