Trumpworld's Jason Miller Must Pay Gizmodo Thousands for Accurately Reporting Insane Story About Him

Trump spokesperson
Jason Miller owes G/O Media, formerly Gizmodo Media Group, nearly $42,000 in legal expenses after he tried and failed to sue the company for accurately reporting on legal filings stipulating he’d secretly drugged his pregnant mistress with an abortion pill, the Daily Beast reported. After losing his initial $100 million defamation suit against G/O Media—the parent company of the now-defunct Splinter, which published the story—Miller tried to revive the case by arguing that the court documents were out of bounds. His claim was rejected by a federal appeals court that “ruled that they were protected under New York fair reporting privilege and upheld the 2019 decision,” per the Beast. And last week, to add insult to injury, the former spokesperson for ....

Maricopa County Demands Arizona Senate Preserve Recount Records For Possible Lawsuit

Maricopa County Demands Arizona Senate Preserve Recount Records For Possible Lawsuit
County weighs defamation suit after Cyber Ninjas auditors claim a database was destroyed. County officials say they were simply too inept to find it.
By Jonathan J. Cooper
PHOENIX  Maricopa County officials on Friday directed the Arizona Senate and the auditors it hired to review the county’s 2020 election count to preserve documents for a possible lawsuit.
The county made the demand in a letter after the auditors refused to back down from their claim that the county destroyed evidence by deleting an election database. The GOP-controlled Board of Supervisors and Republican Recorder Stephen Richer, one of the top election officials, say the claim is false. ....

Nunes Family Sues For Defamation, Shocked To Find That Discovery Comes Before KA-CHING

As trademark law increases in popularity, attorneys will need instruction and advice they can trust. The founder of Trademarkabilities sits down for an interview to…
From Above the Law and Trademarkabilities
But the Nunes family is represented by sparklemagic libelslander lawyer Steven Biss, a one-man casebook on slapstick SLAPP suits. And so we find ourselves trying to piece together a heavily redacted motion from lawyers for Hearst Magazines, Lizza’s previous employer, which appears to allege a shocking variety of misconduct by the infamous defamation lawyer.
In an apparent attempt to bollix up depositions of NuStar employees, Biss first asserted that it was illegal to depose them, then claimed to represent the witnesses as employees of the dairy and agreed to accept service of process. At the deposition itself, he decided he did not represent them after all, but then disrupted the proceeding in some fashion so shocking that it is being blacked out of the court ....

Fox News Media, the Rupert Murdoch-controlled cable group, filed a motion on Tuesday to dismiss a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit brought against it in March by Dominion Voting Systems, an election technology company that accused Fox News of propagating lies that ruined its reputation after the 2020 presidential election.
The Dominion lawsuit and a similar defamation claim brought in February by another election company, Smartmatic, have been widely viewed as test cases in a growing legal effort to battle disinformation in the news media. And it is another byproduct of former President Donald J. Trump’s baseless attempts to undermine President Biden’s clear victory. ....
