Civil rights icon U.S. Rep. John Lewis honored by Dover NJ bridge

DOVER Growing up in a family of 12 children in the segregated South, Mayor Carolyn Blackman said, she took inspiration from the teachings of many leaders, including civil rights icon John Lewis.
I m a country girl from Virginia, Blackman said Tuesday as she unveiled a road plaque dedicating the new bridge at the corner of East Blackwell and Salem streets in memory of Lewis, the late U.S. congressman. I dealt a lot with what John Lewis went through.
Flanked by Morris County commissioners, legislators and other dignitaries, Blackman recalled a time and place that inspired Lewis, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and others to launch the civil rights movement, taking actions Lewis used to refer to as good trouble. ....
