With the peak AGM season only months away, many companies currently find themselves in a very challenging period as they decide between physical, hybrid and virtual formats. Adding an extra element of complexity, many organisations are drafting their notices of meetings against a backdrop of COVID flare-ups and an unclear regulatory situation.

There was a big drop in the proportion of chief executives who got a pay rise over the past year, as Australian companies paid heed to the reputational risk of giving their executives and directors salary and fee increases during the pandemic.
According to the Governance Institute of Australia’s 2021 Remuneration Report, only 25 per cent of Australian CEOs received increases in fixed remuneration over the past year, compared with 53 per cent in the previous year.
For those who did receive a pay rise, the increase was 1.4 per cent – down from 2 per cent the previous year. ....

As predicted, the lockdown restrictions impacting Greater Sydney have been extended for another week. Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Wednesday announced stay-at-home orders and business closures, which were slated to expire this Friday, will instead last until midnight on Friday, July 16. Health authorities on Wednesday revealed an additional 27 cases of COVID-19 the community.
