Russia has ordered its troops amassing at the border with Ukraine to pull back, dialling down fears of an imminent invasion that threatened to pull the West into conflict with Vladimir Putin.
An estimated 100,000 Russian troops had moved to the border and into the Russia-occupied Crimean peninsula, something the region has not seen since major hostilities in eastern Ukraine in 2014-2015. ....

drag link and tie rod - direction?
I ve been spending a few minutes at a time with my new to me 84 CJ7 and wanted to correct the steering wheel orientation. After finding the steering wheel was installed in the correct spot (alignment marks), I checked the pitman arm and found that it can only go in one location. After ruling out the steering wheel and the pitman arm, that leaves an incorrect adjustment to the drag link and tie rod end. I started turning it only to find the previous owner had probably used a pipe wrench to turn it and collapsed it thereby preventing it from being adjusted enough to correct the steering wheel. I did a little searching and found the adjusting tube is always shown nearest the pitman arm, mine however is located at the other end - the drag link is in backwards! So my question is, does it really matter? ....

The New Zealand sharemarket gave up some of its recent hard-earned gains, led down by the energy stocks hit by dry weather in both the North and South Islands.
The S&P/NZX 50 Index fell 89.28
points or 0.7 per cent to 12,678.55, and the index did stage a late recovery after reaching an intraday low of 12,574.25. There were 51 gainers and 94 decliners over the whole market, with 52.36 million shares worth $197.88 million changing hands.
Matt Goodson, managing director of Salt Funds Management, said the question is, do markets keep on running? The corporate earnings outlook is reasonable without being outstanding, and it depends on whether central banks will maintain their present monetary policy with inflation starting to creep in. ....

US President Joe Biden has made a long-awaited decision about the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. According to the agreement with the Taliban that the Trump administration had signed in 2020, the troops were supposed to withdraw by May 1, 2021. Per the new announcement, the troop withdrawal will start by May 1, 2021 and will be complete by September 11 this year that will also mark the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Centre twin towers in New York and on the Pentagon complex in Washington, DC. The US still has some 2,500 troops in Afghanistan. When the Trump administration signed the deal with the Taliban in Doha last February, it appeared to be in a hurry to dissociate itself from the Afghan imbroglio that has sucked American resources for two decades now. President Biden has taken a more circumspect approach to face this challenge. He has found a midway between meeting the May 1 deadline and not withdrawing the remaining troops. I ....

WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday it’s “time to end” America’s longest war with the unconditional withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan where they have spent two decades in a bloody, largely fruitless battle against the Taliban.
Dubbed the “forever war,” the US military onslaught in Afghanistan began in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States.
Now, 20 years later after almost 2,400 US military and tens of thousands of Afghan deaths Biden is naming September 11 as the deadline by which the last US soldiers will have finally departed. The war is at best at a stalemate. ....
