CVS, Walgreens begin vaccination process at South Jersey senior homes

CVS and Walgreens, the national pharmacy chains in charge of the COVID vaccination process at long-term care facilities in New Jersey, have started sending employees to South Jersey nursing homes and vaccinating residents and staff members.
The first shots at New Jersey facilities took place Monday, according to Tara Burke, CVS media relations specialist for the eastern region. Along with healthcare workers, who started receiving vaccinations in mid-December, long-term care facility residents and staff members are part of Phase 1A of the state s ongoing COVID vaccination rollout. ....

OCEAN CITY â With a COVID-19 vaccine almost within reach, a mid-November outbreak at The Shores senior living facility brought devastating news.
Twelve residents have died, as did a nurse at the Bay Avenue facility.
A spokeswoman with United Methodist Communities, which operates The Shores, said that due to privacy concerns, the names of the residents could not be released, nor any information on their ages or how long they lived at the center. ....

OCEAN CITY, NJ Seven residents and one nurse at United Methodist Communities at The Shores have died of coronavirus following a mid-November outbreak at the nursing home.
The home s 22 active cases, as of Thursday morning, included 13 residents and nine staff. The cases are split among skilled nursing and assisted living, according to a spokesperson for the home.
The total cases at the nursing home have decreased since the mid-November outbreak when 36 residents and staff tested positive for the coronavirus. ....
