The White House rolled out a $2.3 trillion plan that makes major investments in the nation’s infrastructure, along with a series of tax increases on corporations. President Biden detailed the proposal in a speech in Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon.
The broad outline now goes to Capitol Hill. Republicans have indicated that they would be opposed to a large package accompanied by tax increases, meaning Democrats will likely need to leverage their slim majorities in Congress to pass it along party lines.

Joe Biden's Coronavirus Stimulus Bill: A $1.9 Trillion Disaster

Joe Biden s Coronavirus Stimulus Bill: A $1.9 Trillion Disaster
Instead of wasting trillions of dollars on things that have nothing to do with COVID-19, the correct response to this problem should be targeted and temporary policies that are focused on reducing the spread of the virus.
President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan” is expected to be signed into law this week.
Though regularly billed as “the COVID-19 relief bill,” the legislation is not focused on reducing the spread of the disease. Instead, it is stuffed with a wish list of progressive policies that have nothing to do with the pandemic. In fact, less than 10 percent of the bill’s spending will be dedicated to public health. The vast majority will go to special interest payoffs and other wasteful spending that will do little to reduce the spread of COVID-19 or help the economy recover. ....

COVID relief package update: House passes $1.9T pandemic bill on near party-line vote, includes $1,400 stimulus checks

The COVID relief bill heads to the Senate: What s in it for you?
The overall relief bill would provide $1,400 payments to individuals, extend emergency unemployment benefits through August and increase tax credits for children and federal subsidies for health insurance.
It also provides billions for schools and colleges, state and local governments, COVID-19 vaccines and testing, renters, food producers and struggling industries like airlines, restaurants, bars and concert venues.
Moderate Democratic Reps. Jared Golden of Maine and Kurt Schrader of Oregon were the only two lawmakers to cross party lines. That sharp partisan divide is making the fight a showdown over whom voters will reward for heaping more federal spending to combat the coronavirus and revive the economy atop the $4 trillion approved last year. ....
