Imagining an AFC West with Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson - Sports Illustrated Kansas City Chiefs News, Analysis and More

Feb 28, 2021
I’ll start by saying that this, without question, almost definitely won’t happen. The number of unlikely pieces that need to fall into place for something as ludicrous as this to happen pretty much guarantees it’s just offseason speculation article fodder.
.But I’m a Chiefs fan, so when you present a worst-case scenario, my instinct is to fret about it until it doesn’t happen.
Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston. That’s probably an understatement. He wants out of Houston so badly he’d embrace a trade to the Jets. He’s a generational talent stuck in a comically incompetent organization that has zero draft capital to begin to even consider mulling over a passing thought of attempting to build a team of remotely fieldable talent around him. This has Watson so frustrated he’s demanded to be traded, which will inevitably cost whichever team he lands with the exact amount of draft capital the Texans don’t have. ....

Breaking the Bank: Who Could the Kansas City Chiefs Splurge for in Free Agency? - Sports Illustrated Kansas City Chiefs News, Analysis and More

Feb 27, 2021
It’s about that time of year when every NFL team looks to add to their roster, filling in depth spots and making moves to push their team forward before the NFL Draft. Yes, free agency is drawing closer every day. This year, the frenzy is set to officially begin on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17.
The Chiefs have greater needs at some positions than others, as the team obviously isn’t in the market for a starting quarterback or a replacement for Travis Kelce, but they could use more depth even at their most talented positions. Even acknowledging that there will be cap limitations in 2021, that s part of the fun! Today, I’m going to lean into my favorite player at each position group for the Chiefs, understanding that they likely won t be able to sign more than one or two big-name free agents. Let s get crazy! ....

There wasn’t a lot of positivity to come out of Super LV for the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a ugly game and there’s no need to rehash any of that. However, shortly after the game ended, the Chiefs were already slotted as the betting favorites to get back to the Super Bowl and win it in 2022. ....

Analytics Recap: Kansas City Chiefs Defeat Buffalo Bills 38-24, Advance to Super Bowl LV - Sports Illustrated Kansas City Chiefs News, Analysis and More

Jan 27, 2021
The Kansas City Chiefs are AFC Champions for the second consecutive year after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game by a score of 38-24. Patrick Mahomes had an incredible performance in this game, throwing for 325 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, while fellow second-team All-Pro Josh Allen threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns while running for 88 yards, but Allen threw a back-breaking interception in the red zone in the fourth quarter while it was a two-score game.
The Chiefs will play their second consecutive Super Bowl, this time heading to Tampa Bay to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on February 7 for Super Bowl LV. This will be the ultimate moment of Mahomes career, as he will have a chance to defeat Tom Brady, the six-time Super Bowl champion and the only quarterback to hand him a postseason loss to this point in his career. ....
