.- Dorothy Kosinski, Vradenburg Director and CEO of The Phillips Collection, announced today that she will conclude her tenure toward the end of 2022. Followed by a transition period, requested by the Board of Trustees, she will mark 15 years of distinguished leadership and be named Director Emerita.
Dr. Kosinski said: “This is a moment of great celebration and achievement for me and the Phillips. This year, 2021, is the centennial of this distinguished institution. We have accomplished extraordinary work that has transformed the Phillips while maintaining its distinctive character as an intimate, experimental space. Contemporary Jewish Museum names Chad Coerver Executive Director
Coerver currently serves as the Chief Education and Community Engagement Officer at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

.-The Contemporary Jewish Museum today announced that Chad Coerver has been named Executive Director. Coerver currently serves as the Chief Education and Community Engagement Officer at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), where he developed a creative and human-centered approach to expanding audiences, enhancing the visitor experience, and increasing access to the museum. Coerver will begin in his new role at The CJM on September 1, 2021.

Pathbreaking feminist art historian and author Moira Roth, who taught at Mills College for more than forty years, died June 14 at the age of eighty-seven. The news was announced by Mills College president Elizabeth Hillman, who described Roth, who came to the college in 1985 and retired in 2017 as the Eugene E. Trefethen Professor of Contemporary Art History, as a “bright light.” Her essay collection

Celebrated historian inspired by Pittsburgh, Franklin Toker, has died at 76

Franklin Toker, a towering University of Pittsburgh professor whose passion for art and architecture illuminated conversations with friends as well as paved the way for a litany of critically acclaimed books, died April 19 following a battle with a rare form of dementia. He passed away 10 days shy of his 77th birthday.
Born in Montreal in 1944 and educated at McGill University, Oberlin College and Harvard University, Toker first made a name for himself in the international art community in the 1960s, when he directed the excavation of an architectural find under the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. Critics hailed two published volumes of his “Florence Duomo Project,” though Toker did not live to complete the final two installments. In Florence, Toker also met his future wife, Ellen, then a Middlebury College master’s student. ....
