(WFIE) -Senior guard Emma DeHart (Indianapolis, Indiana) and sophomore forward Hannah Haithcock (Washington Courthouse, Ohio) combined for 37 points to lead No. 11 University of Southern Indiana Women’s Basketball to a 62-50 Great Lakes Valley Conference win Thursday evening at Screaming Eagles Arena.
USI (10-1, 10-1 GLVC) held the Hawks to just 28.8 percent (21-73) from the field and 3.6 percent (1-28) from behind the arc to earn the win. ....

New Leadership Team at Family Medicine Residency Program


On Jan. 4th, the
Dr. Rebecca Collins is the new Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Collins will lead alongside newly promoted Associate Program Director,
Dr. Samantha Rai and
Dr. London Muse, who was promoted to Associate Program Director in 2019 and is also Medical Director at Sleepy Hollow Open Door.  These changes usher in a new leadership structure for the program.

Dr. Collins completed her family medicine training at Columbia University’s Center for Family and Community Medicine, medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and public health training at A.T. Still University. She is one of the founding faculty members of this residency program. Residents of Meadow Ridge Senior Living community in Moberly were among the first people in Randolph County to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations last week.
For Betty Kritz, 87, the arrival of the Moderna vaccine was a welcome sight and could not come soon enough.
“For people like me, it is very important for me to do,  Kritz said Tuesday.  This is going to allow me the opportunity to get back out into society again. More importantly, after I have my second dose later in a few weeks, this will allow me to visit more closely with my family and friends that I love. I m one of many who have been under quarantine for a long time, and I ve missed getting out and seeing people and doing other things.” ....

The Chariton Valley Association has been selected as the beneficiary for the February Hy-Vee Reusable Bag Program.
The program, which was started in 2019, gives back to area non-profits. Each time one of the “My Heart” reusable bags is purchased for $2.50 at the Kirksville store in February, $1 will go to Chariton Valley. 
“Chariton Valley Association is a private, non-profit organization established in 1982 in Kirksville, MO by a group of parents of children with developmental disabilities who recognized a need for local services,” reads a release from the association. “Chariton Valley Association has a proud history of providing high-quality support services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Northeast Missouri, primarily in Adair County.” ....

Jefferson City opens its first medical marijuana dispensary


JEFFERSON CIY - Jefferson City s first medical marijuana dispensary opened Monday. 
Missouri Health and Wellness, a medical cannabis company, is licensed to operate five dispensaries in Missouri. The location in Jefferson City is just one of them.
The other 4 locations include Washington, Belton, Kirksville, and Sedalia.
“This has been some time coming and we are excited to finally bring medical cannabis to our state’s capital city, Cole County and the surrounding areas, I continue to be amazed by the support we have received from the state, from Jeff City and our other areas we serve, the business community and the residents,  Randy Stambaugh, MH&W’s statewide manager said. ....
