May 24, 2021
DUBAI — Following last week’s in-person Arabian Travel Market the Middle East’s largest travel and tourism showcase, continued this week with the opening Monday of ATM Virtual.
Under the same theme of ‘A new dawn for travel & tourism’, the three-day event, which was specifically designed for those industry professionals unable to attend the in-person ATM event, kicked off this year with Sir Tim Clark, president of Emirates, who gave a candid outlook about the recovery of the aviation industry.
During a virtual conversation with top aviation consultant, John Strickland, who conducted the interview from London, Sir Tim initially gave his opinion on the recovery timescale of the aviation sector.

Some Massachusetts businesses working on new face mask policies

Some Massachusetts business owners are still trying to figure out how to keep customers and staff safe when the state's face mask mandate is dropped on May 29.At Vaiani and Clarke Salon in Newton Centre, the owners and staff are carefully weighing what type of policy will work for their customers."We're in the 'contact business,' so we're touching people really up close," said Gia Clarke, co-owner of Vaiani and Clarke.Clarke says while the salon may book a few extra appointments each day, customers will still be required to wear face masks when the statewide mandate is lifted May 29."Not one person has told me they feel comfortable enough just to rip their mask off and come into the salon," Clarke said.A growing number of national and regional chains are easing face mask restrictions for fully-vaccinated customers per guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That list includes the following businesses:CVSWalgreensWalmartTargetKohl'sHome DepotTrader Joe'sBJ'sCostcoChipotleStarbucksStop & ShopSome companies are still deciding if their employees should still be required to wear face masks. So far, very few businesses are requiring customers to provide proof of full vaccination."We are using the honors system. We will not be asking people to provide proof of vaccination," said James Norman, general manager of the Planet Fitness location in Watertown. "But we trust our members and we know that it's a gym, and everybody wants to be and stay healthy."Business owners tell NewsCenter 5 that fully vaccinated people should carry their vaccination cards and face masks with them because policies will likely vary from company to company.Massachusetts vaccination progressMassachusetts COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and fatalities

Will it be wedding dress designer to the stars Trish Peng or perhaps Ardern's go-to dresser Juliette Hogan?
And while she remained tight-lipped on the wedding date itself, Ardern revealed a few more details about the big day to Fletch, Vaughan and Megan on ZM this morning.

St. Vincent gets trapped in '70s revivalism on 'Daddy's Home'

For those who experienced it firsthand, and for those who binge reproductions of it on prestige serials a half-century later, the '70s remains an understandably satisfying era to fantasize about. From its dandyish business casual to its crockpots of fondue so much of it seems so charmingly bygone, so sentimentally lost. The most telegenic bits, though, feel bona fide haunted - a grotty, Dionysian Manhattan, the woefully short life spans of it-girls and superstars, a blazing era for rock, punk, jazz and soul. It was a pricklier, lawless, more decadent time - perfect escapism for contemporary minds in search of more chaotic pastures.

Dunedin business owner Paul Lambert Clarke admits tax scam

A Dunedin business owner defrauded Customs for six years and underpaid more than $1.3 million in tax.
Because of GST refunds, however, 45-year-old Paul Lambert Clarke only benefited by up to $15,000, the Dunedin District Court has heard.
The scam gave his company, P L Clarke Limited, "a significant cash-flow advantage over competitors", court documents said.
Clarke this morning pleaded guilty to two charges of using altered documents with intent to deceive and one of producing false documents.

The defendant's business was involved in the importation of heavy machinery such as tractors, cranes and bulldozers, which he would repair through another company he established or lease through a third firm he owned.

Tight housing market leaves few options for buyers, brokers say

Mesa County’s housing market is tight and only seems to be getting tighter.
April ended with just 166 active residential listings, the second-lowest total of any month since January 2013 and just 10 more than March 2021. Of course the 316 homes sold last month and 1,200 this year — both higher than last year — indicates that the market isn’t all bad.
“That means that inventory is at least moving. But there aren’t a lot of houses available, so as a homebuyer, your options are limited,” said Kevin Bray, research and development coordinator with Bray Real Estate. “Median prices are going up, and if that continues, you might be priced out.”
