Rally to support Asian-Americans slated for Saturday in Monterey

MONTEREY Educators, religious leaders and city officials are gathering Saturday in Monterey to support the Asian-American community that has suffered increasing racist attacks, many of which have turned violent.
Congressman Jimmy Panetta, D-Carmel Valley, will be among the speakers when the rally begins at 11 a.m. Saturday in front of Colton Hall at the Monterey city government offices on Pacific Street.
He will be joined by several CSU Monterey Bay professors, a San Francisco State University Asian history expert, a Buddhist leader, Monterey Councilman Tyller Williamson and Nat Rojanasathira, Monterey’s assistant city manager. ....
