'Bora ring' built in 2020 used to disrupt Gympie Bypass


A clash between protesters and the Queensland State Government over the future of the s0-called Gympie Pyramid site has been avoided today, with work at the section of the $1 billion Section D of the Cooroy to Curra Bypass on pause until a ruling is handed down on an Indigenous claim for cultural protection under Federal law.
Protesters fighting to stop the destruction of the site, also called Djaki Kundu, issued a call-out for support on social media on Sunday night saying they had not yet been given word the site would remain untouched on Monday, May 10.

The host of ABC show Q&A has been accused of allowing a male panellist to mock and patronised a female senator.
Aramco director and former Dow Chemical CEO Andrew Liveris clashed with Greens senator Sarah Hanson Young during a heated discussion about fossil fuels on Thursday night s show. 
During the exchange Ms Hanson-Young called Mr Liveris patronising while he accused her of yelling at him during the debate, caused her party to criticise host Hamish McDonald for not speaking up in her defence.

The Greens have taken aim at the host of ABC s Q&A and a panellist on Thursday night s show who has been accused of mocking and patronising Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young.
Much of the conversation on Thursday s episode was about Australia s use of fossil fuels and whether the country was falling behind the rest of the world in achieving net zero carbon emissions.
There was particularly spirited debate between Ms Hanson-Young and fellow panellist Andrew Liveris, the former chief executive of the Dow Chemical Company and current board member of the Saudi Aramco petrol and natural gas company. ....

New Queensland Sex Consent Law ‘Not Fit for Purpose’: Critics
Queensland Parliament has passed new sexual consent laws that require people to consent or reject a sexual act verbally. This means that silence or intoxication can no longer imply agreement was given for sexual relations.
Under the new law, which had bipartisan support, consent can also be withdrawn by words or actions during the act of sexual relations.
However, alleged perpetrators can still use mistaking consent such as by there not being a verbal rejection as a criminal defence against sexual assault in some circumstances.
The Queensland Greens unsuccessfully tried to move last-minute amendments to mandate affirmative consent and remove the mistake of fact defence. ....
