Chile has administered about 5 million vaccine doses, nearly a quarter of its population.
Dr. Joxelin Flores Taborda, who is based in Santiago, Chile, got her second dose of Coronavac last week. She had a little headache afterward. But “a good headache,” she called it. “I was thinking, ‘The vaccine is doing something inside me.’”
Flores is a pediatrician who specializes in pulmonology. She and her colleagues who work in health care were among the first to receive vaccines at the start of Chile’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign in early February. ....

Over 31 millions doses of the coronavirus vaccines have been distributed in the US as of January 31, according to the CDC.
Doctors Syra Madad, Komal Bajaj, and Saskia Popescu explain that despite this progress, COVID-19 prevention doesn t stop at immunization.
Immunity takes time and none of the vaccines are 100% effective, so the doctors say it s important to maintain safety precautions during this time.

B.C. s new age-based COVID-19 vaccination plans bumps many essential service workers, including firefighers, grocery store workers and teachers, down the priority line for a vaccination.
Sharon Lee-Flynn, 43, says she suffers from a spinal cord injury of more than twenty years and, with impaired pulmonary and cardiovascular systems, she s more at risk than a 60-year-old.  
That s why the B.C. resident says she doesn t understand the province s COVID-19 vaccination plan announced Friday which mainly prioritizes people by age, leaving Lee-Flynn to wait at least another six months before she can be vaccinated.  ....
