Nearly four months after the U.S. Capitol attack, just one of more than 440 people charged has pleaded guilty, a sign of tough conditions set by prosecutors for plea deals and resistance by defense lawyers to their demands.

WASHINGTON D.C. â Rep. Peter Meijer (RâGrand Rapids) and Rep. Fred Upton (RâSt. Joseph) were among 35 House Republicans who despite opposition from GOP leadership, supported a bill that would establish an independent commission to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.
The U.S. House passed a bill Wednesday, 252-175 to create a 9/11-style commission to independently investigate the ins and outs of the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol and how to prevent something like that from happening again. ....

Denton County Man Arrested and Charged in Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol Insurrection

Footage from both inside and outside the Capitol showed a man identified as Persick wearing a red “Make America Great Again” baseball cap, according to court documents. He also sports a brown beard, dark jacket and backpack.
In early March, a confidential witness told the FBI that someone had texted them a photo of Persick on the day of the insurrection. In it, a smiling Persick is wearing sunglasses and stands in front of a crowd.
The witness also received a short video that Persick had allegedly recorded from inside the Capitol building. Persick did not record himself in the video but filmed a line of people walking toward the Capitol’s rotunda. ....
