WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Congress’ probe into security failures that allowed the deadly January assault on the U.S. Capitol by former President Donald Trump’s supporters turns on Thursday to the inspector general of the police department charged with securing the seat of American democracy.
The House of Representatives Administration Committee will hear testimony from Michael Bolton, the U.S. Capitol Police inspector general leading the investigation into the department’s preparation for and response to the Jan. 6 violence. ....

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A law enforcement internal probe of the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol found significant shortcomings within the police department charged with securing the complex and made dozens of recommendations for avoiding a repeat of the violence.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) The Tennessee State Library and Archives celebrated the opening of its new 165,000-square-foot building Monday in Nashville, with several Tennessee governors and other top figures in state government on hand for a ribbon cutting.

Capitol to take back property donated by previous admin to CIDG 7

THE Cebu Provincial Government is planning to take back the 679-square-meter property along Gorordo Avenue that was donated by the previous administration in August 2018 to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said the donation was “defective.” She said that the Commission on Audit (COA) submitted an observation that the donation did not have its approval.
“This deed of donation needs to be revoked and enter into a deed of usufruct with CIDG for another piece of property that the CIDG and Cebu Provincial Government decide upon in the designated government center,” said Garcia. ....
