International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) has joined the Race to Zero initiative, a global campaign promoted by the United Nations which strives to garner support from companies, cities, regions and investors in order to develop the industry and global economy in a sustainable, conscious way with zero carbon emissions by 2050.
VSPT Wine Group has joined this initiative thanks to its participation as a silver member of the IWCA, placing as the first member representing the agricultural and livestock sector and becoming part of this alliance which already encompasses 23 regions, 471 cities, 1675 companies, 569 universities and 85 investors. ....

IWCA has joined the global campaign Race to Zero, a United Nations-backed, global campaign to rally leadership and support from businesses, cities, regions, and investors for a healthy, resilient, zero-carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth.
Launched on World Environment Day 2020 (5 June), the objective for the campaign is to build momentum around the shift to a decarbonized economy ahead of COP26, where governments must strengthen their contributions to the Paris Agreement. ....

Vilafranca del Penedès (January 26, 2021) – International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) has announced that Cullen Wines (Australia) and Bodega Emina in Ribera del Duero (Bodegas Familiares Matarromera; Spain) have joined the organization’s mission to decarbonize the global wine industry. As Applicant Members, both wineries have committed to taking immediate action to reduce their carbon emissions in an effort to curtail the severe climate crisis.
Founded in February 2019 by Familia Torres (Spain) and Jackson Family Wines (USA), IWCA is a collaborative working group that addresses climate change through innovative carbon reduction strategies. IWCA’s objective for all members is to achieve a 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and to become Climate Positive by 2050 for Scopes 1-3. ....
