Jim and Carol Spencer’s memories of riding the train as youngsters was just one of the inspirations for setting up a miniature railroad in their San Diego Country Estates backyard.
While growing up in Chicago, Carol often traveled by train with her sister to visit their grandfather in Topeka, Kan. Long before he met his future wife, Jim also made trips to visit his grandparents in Topeka.
