The future of the Board of Supes is on the line as redistricting moves forward

A set of crucial decisions that could impact the city’s politics for the next decade are going to start to play out
Monday/19 at the Board of Supes Rules Committee – and most of the news media hasn’t even notices.
The committee will recommend three people to serve on the city’s Redistricting Task Force, which will write new lines for the supervisorial districts based on the 2020 census.
This is potentially critical – even small changes in the current lines could have a big political impact.
And the task force will be making more than small changes: The city has picked up 80,000 new residents in the past ten years, most of them on the East Side of town, so some district lines will have to change pretty significantly. ....

Electrifying more than 240,000 gas-powered housing units in San Francisco could cost between $3.5 billion and $5.9 billion, the city estimated in a new report. The report said a key barrier to electrical retrofits is the financial burden that would fall on property owners, city government or both. ....

Mayor London Breed announced that the city will aim to be carbon neutral by 2045 and the municipal electric program CleanPowerSF will provide carbon-free electricity by 2025, both are five years earlier than previously outlined.

(TNS) San Francisco is accelerating its efforts to eliminate its carbon footprint and supply residents with 100 percent clean electricity.
Mayor London Breed announced Thursday that the city will seek to become carbon neutral, meaning there will be no net release of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, by 2045 instead of 2050.
At the same time, the municipal electricity supply program CleanPowerSF is on track to provide its customers with completely carbon-free electricity by 2025, also five years ahead of its original goal, Breed said. ....
