Former U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell has been appointed the Edward V. Fritzky endowed chair in leadership at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business for the 2021-2022 academic year.
For the past 20 years, the faculty position has brought leaders from the sports and business world to the school to interact with students and faculty.
Jewell was the CEO of REI from 2005 until 2013 when she joined the Obama Administration. She currently serves on the board of directors for Costco, Symetra Financial, Green Diamond Resource Company and recently was interim CEO of The Nature Conservancy. ....

The Baihuashan National Nature Reserve, a rare sanctuary of pine trees and unobstructed views just west of the capital, is one of China’s more successful attempts to preserve its dwindling natural resources. SEATTLE Washington state lawmakers have passed a sweeping set of environmental regulations meant to cut net greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050 while pumping billions of dollars into the state coffers and addressing environmental racism.
Next, they ll have to make it all work.
Following on promises two years ago to decarbonize the state s electricity sector, the Legislature recently passed a suite of climate bills aiming to cut greenhouse gas emissions from heavy industry and cars. The regulations are meant to put Washington on pace to reach the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement ....
