United Orders 15 Supersonic Jets

The good news for air travelers hungering for faster flights is that United just ordered 15 supersonic jets. The bad news is they won't be ready until 2029, and that's...

China's Most Advanced Jet Receives Stealth Capability, Removes Luneburg Lens: J-22 Vs. US F-22

A pair of F35-B Lightning stealth jets, which will take over capabilities from Tornado force, fly off the wing of an RAF Voyager during air to air refueling, as Tornado GR4's take part in farewell fly-past over Britain on February 19, 2019 in Oxford, England. Nicknamed the "Tonka" by aviation enthusiasts, the Tornado GR4 will took part in a series of flypasts to commemorate the aircraft's contribution to defending the UK as it is retired from service.
According to Global Times' latest report, the advanced combat airplane has entered the next level of combat readiness. However, China hasn't confirmed yet if its J-20 will soon be used in possible real air combat.

FAA rejects Boom Supersonic's bid to ease testing rules

Late last week, the FAA announced a new process for aviation startups to get permission to test new supersonic aircraft.
Despite the appeal of faster-than-sound travel, testing new planes is logistically challenging, partly because planes flying at those speeds create an aggravating sonic boom.
A leading supersonic aviation startup, Boom Technologies, proposed a number of changes to the FAA's process, looking to simplify the process. But the federal agency shot each and every proposal down.
Supersonic commercial air travel has been a nostalgic memory since the Concorde was laid to rest in 2003, the victim of economics that no longer worked and a post-9/11 market that would transform the aviation landscape for decades to come.

Boom Supersonic Turns to Cloud to Reinvent Supersonic Air Travel

How Cloud Computing Is Reinventing Supersonic Air Travel
A new era of commercial supersonic air travel could be coming by the end of the decade, thanks in part to Boom Supersonic's use of AWS' cloud computing power.
Cloud computing typically has nothing to do with real clouds in the atmosphere, but that's not the case with Boom Supersonic.
In building a new generation of supersonic commercial jet aircraft, Denver-based Boom Supersonic is making extensive use of the cloud for design and test. In a session at the Amazon Web Services (AWS)
pictured), founder and CEO of Boom, outlined how his company is using the cloud to design and build an aircraft that provides supersonic air travel that would be cost-prohibitive using other means.
