Govt cancels ad-hoc promotion of eight under-secretaries | India News

NEW DELHI: The Modi government has cancelled the ad-hoc promotion of 8 under-secretaries across various Central departments, due to their non-joining/non-assumption of charge to the promotional post.
The government has also debarred them from ad-hoc promotion for a period of one year from the date of issue of promotion orders.
The eight officers belonging to Central Secretariat Service were among the 174 under-secretaries given ad-hoc promotion to the grade of deputy secretary through an order issued on December 11, 2020.
The officers were asked to assume the new charge immediately and not later than December 21, 2020, failing which the promotion orders with respect to non-joinee officers will be liable to be withdrawn, apart from debarment from ad-hoc promotion or other suitable consequences . ....

The Provincial Assembly of Sindh on Thursday passed a bill to increase the salaries, allowances and other privileges available to the parliamentary secretaries in the House.
Five lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are working as parliamentary secretaries for the provincial government’s departments of local government, food, law, irrigation and Zakat & Ushr.
After the passage of the Sindh Parliamentary Secretaries (Salaries, Allowances and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill 2021, each of the five lawmakers will receive a special allowance of Rs50,000 and a sumptuary allowance of Rs10,000 every month. ....

Failure to recover citizen: IHC slaps Rs10m fine on interior, defence secretaries, police

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday imposed Rs10 million fine on the interior secretary, defence secretary, SP (investigation), JIT in-charge, and Golra SHO over their failure to investigate a missing person’s case.
IHC’s Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said in the verdict that they jointly held responsible for their failure to provide due protection to Ghulam Qadir.
The court said the state machinery is responsible in this case and by fixing the responsibility upon the aforesaid officials, the authorities have been given 30 days to recover Qadir. The court announced on Friday its verdict on the writ petition filed by Qadir’s brother for his recovery. ....

Cadastral mapping: PM directs chief secretaries to provide data to Surveyor General

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday directed all the provincial chief secretaries to immediately provide Provincial Land Records (PLRs) to the Surveyor General so that the cadastral mapping process could be completed.
He gave this direction while presiding over the weekly meeting of National Coordinating Committee for Housing, Construction and Development here. Surveyor General of Pakistan briefed the meeting on cadastral mapping.
The meeting was informed that mapping was underway in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta and data from other small towns and rural areas had been received and was being digitized. The forum was told that this process would eliminate problems with determining the actual ownership of the land and will help in better planning. ....
