BOSTON (AP) The Easter and Passover holidays were accompanied Sunday by more relaxed restrictions on houses of worship and gatherings in New England, along with worries about the spread of COVID-19.
Many houses of worship required congregants to RSVP for a limited number of in-person service seats. Others held outdoor ceremonies. And, as has been the case throughout the pandemic, many had online services through Zoom, Facebook or YouTube.
Bishop Thomas Brown of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine said the Easter holiday felt different from last year. People now have a better understanding of the pandemic and they see light at the end of the tunnel as more people get vaccinated. ....

A Republican candidate in the special election to replace the late U.S. Rep. Ron Wright, R-Arlington, is facing intense backlash and has lost two of her biggest supporters after saying she does not want Chinese immigrants in the United States.
The comments by Sery Kim, a Korean American who served in the Small Business Administration under President Donald Trump, prompted California U.S. Reps. Young Kim and Michelle Steel to rescind their endorsements of her on Friday. Young Kim and Steel are the first Korean American GOP women to serve in Congress. ....

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) Louisiana s Republican leaders are sharply at odds over whether and how the state should redesign its primary elections, a resurfacing disagreement driven by political ideology that could have significant sway in future election victories.
The divide over whether to return to closed party primaries for some or most elections is drawing particular interest because Republicans weighing in on the issue are possible contenders for governor and other statewide offices in 2023 . The type of primary election in place could help determine how those bids for office fare. ....

MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) You either love or loathe the loaf.
Scrapple, the breakfast meat made with pig parts not often talked about like snouts, livers and hearts a thick layer of cornmeal mush, and sprinkles of herbs and spices, is not for everyone.
But devout scrapple fans are steadfast in their belief these greyish, brick-like blocks of mystery meat are better than bacon, and maybe even more satisfying than sausage.
And no more proof is needed than a quick scroll through the Scrapple Trail, a year-old, public Facebook page that now counts more than 7,200 members. ....
