KARACHI: Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, former SVP FPCCI, has asked the SAPM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood to release funds for the payment of the DLTL balance claims of textile sector.
Baig said the Ministry of Commerce had released Rs. 1.3 billion for the payment of textile DLTL claims for 2019-20 and incremental claims for 2018-19, but according to State Bank, the funds were not sufficient to pay the DLTL claims and additional funds were needed to be released immediately to pay the remaining. Baig appreciated efforts of SAPM Dawood to improve the cash flow of the small exporters which would be instrumental to increase the exports of Pakistan.

A small museum in Toronto has become the unexpected target of public outrage this week after posting what staff thought was a completely benignly standard job posting for a new head of marketing.
Unfortunately, in part due to what the executive director says was a typo in the original ad from the Textile Museum of Canada, people seem to feel that as interesting as the opening sounds, the salary is unimpressive, to say the least.

Inside Chanel's Ateliers for the Métiers d'Art Collection

Last December, actor Kristen Stewart sat in a castle in France’s Loire Valley, the sole guest at Chanel’s 2020–21 Métiers d’art show. Had a global pandemic not gripped the world, surely others would have been there too: Anna Wintour, Edward Enninful, perhaps front-row regulars Sofia Coppola, Cara Delevingne, and Lily-Rose Depp. Still, the collection by creative director Virginie Viard was presented with grandeur. That is, after all, the Chanel way—a sky-high standard set by Viard’s predecessor, the late Karl Lagerfeld.
Under his creative direction, his perfectionism, his ability to land at the ever-elusive crux of timelessness and modernity with each collection, a once-flailing Chanel was revived to the tune of billions in revenue and worldwide adoration. But it wasn’t just Lagerfeld who made Chanel the pinnacle of luxury fashion. It was the artisans from the House of Lesage, handweaving samples of Chanel’s fancy tweeds; it was the embroiderers at Atelier Montex, festooning fabrics with sequins and crystals; and it was the shoemakers, leatherworkers, and goldsmiths who craft accessories on which those with the means don’t flinch at spending four to five figures. For years Chanel has turned to these speciality houses, almost all established in France, and boasting rich histories of expert craftsmanship, to bring its designs to life. The creative partnerships have grown so strong that Chanel began acquiring the ateliers in 1985, and finally united them in 1997 as “Les Métiers d’art de Chanel.” The first show was in 2002.

Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, many enterprises in India cannot guarantee normal delivery, including textiles, active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and electronic devices. In order to ensure the supply of goods, European and American retailers have transferred many orders originally produced in India to China.
IHS Markit, a London-based global information provider, said in a research note on Wednesday that the prolonged COVID-19 surge has negatively affected India's economic outlook.
Electronic manufacturing, one of the pillar industries that contributed nearly 20 percent to India's GDP, is among the hard-hit list, according to statistics from National Investment Promotion & Facilitation Agency of India.

Infinited Fiber scaling up Infinna with flagship factory

The black fabric is made with 100% Infinna, created out of 100% post-consumer textile waste
Circular fashion and textile technology group Infinited Fiber Co has revealed plans to build a EUR220m (US$264.2m) flagship factory in its native Finland to produce its regenerated textile fibres for the global market – and take the industry a step closer to having access to a premium, circular alternative to cotton.
The company's technology turns cellulose-based raw materials, like cotton-rich textiles, used cardboard or rice or wheat straw, into Infinna, a fibre with the natural, soft look and feel of cotton.
The firm currently operates pilot facilities in the cities of Espoo and Valkeakoski, Finland, with a combined nominal capacity of 150 metric tonnes per annum. The planned flagship factory will have an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes per annum and will use textile waste as feedstock.
