Attorney Andrew Bizer plans to appeal the Louisiana Supreme Court s failure to toss out a lawsuit to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Louisiana Supreme Court has ruled that Lafayette Consolidated Government’s (LCG) lawsuit can move forward against a comedian who posted a pair of fake “Antifa” events on Facebook in 2020.
New York comedian John Merrifield posted two parody events on Facebook in July 2020, which included “ANTIFA Takes River Ranch” and a second posting centered on the Acadiana Mall.
They just declined to hear the case without any analysis or anything, just like the Court of Appeals did, Bizer told the ....

Louisiana Supreme Court - Lawsuit Over Antifa Hoax Can Proceed

I am going out on a limb to guess that comedian John Merrifield is not finding a ruling by the Louisiana Supreme Court concerning a lawsuit brought by Lafayette Consolidated Government against him to be that funny this morning. Merrifield, who posted on social media about fake Antifa events in Lafayette via social media is being sued by LCG over costs incurred because of those events.
Yesterday the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled that the lawsuit brought by Lafayette Consolidated Government can continue. In July of 2020 Merrifield posted on Facebook, there would be an event called ANTIFA Takes River Ranch . This was about the time the Trayford Pellerin shooting was in the news and many people in the community did not recognize the social media post as a joke. ....

What They’re Saying About TPPF’s Responsible American Budget
May 27, 2021
a plan for the federal government to limit the out-of-control spending that threatens the prosperity of future generations. The key component of the proposal imposes a successful spending growth formula that has kept the budget in states like Texas from spending more than its taxpayers can afford.
The Responsible American Budget has received high praise from members of Congress, top economists, state policymakers, and experts from across the country:
Dr. Arthur B. Laffe
r, Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient: “Government spending is taxation, and we cannot spend and tax our way into prosperity. The Responsible American Budget is a terrific way to rein in this government waste by imposing fiscal limitations on the profligate spenders in Washington.” ....

EFF Tells Louisiana Court Satire Is Still Protected Speech Even If The Government Doesn't Get The Joke

Anyone with half a brain reading the post would have known it was a joke. It contained references to marijuana (the group was to meet at 4:20 pm) and asked that only card carrying members of Antifa show up. There was also the line: Arms optional. Legs encouraged.
For some reason, neither the mayor nor the local police department got the joke. The mayor issued an official statement about the city s zero-tolerance policy for threats to life and property and a police spokesperson said the PD would be monitoring the event despite there being no credible evidence the planned takeover of River Ranch would take place. ....
