Rajkumar said the âlaw is long overdue.â
âAs the first Hindu American and South Asian American woman elected to state office in New York, I take special pride in advocating for new American communities, including those that celebrate Diwali,â Rajkumar said in a press release. âThe South Asian, Indo-Caribbean, Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Buddhist communities are a vital part of our cityâs Gorgeous Mosaic, contributing to every sector of our society.â

Covid: New York promises medical aid to India

New York City mayor Bill de Blasio has announced plans to tap into the city’s stockpile to send Covid-19 test kits, swabs, ventilators, pulse oximeters and other vital medical supplies to India to save lives in the country.
In a statement posted on the official website of the City of New York, de Blasio said that just over a year ago, the city was the centre of the global pandemic. “Now it is our turn to step up and help India in its moment of crisis.
