Not all residents needing aid after February’s storms are eligible for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
But many state and other federal agencies, working both independently and in cooperation with FEMA, offer free services, programs and grants to residents who might need disaster assistance.

Texas Health & Human Services Commission: HHSC is allowing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients to use their food benefits to purchase hot foods and ready-to-eat meals through the end of March. Foods such as rotisserie chicken or grocery store deli foods can be purchased at retailers that accept SNAP anywhere in the state, using the Lone Star Card. ....

Judge temporarily blocks Planned Parenthood’s ouster from Texas Medicaid program
A Texas county judge has temporarily blocked the state’s efforts to remove Planned Parenthood from Medicaid, hours after the group’s affiliates alleged that the state failed to provide adequate notice in a regulatory battle affecting thousands of low-income Texans during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
A slew of Texas Planned Parenthood affiliates asserted in a lawsuit filed Wednesday that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission failed to issue “a proper notice of termination” from the program. The state had promised to remove the groups from the Medicaid program Thursday. ....
