Without question, Eon Productions' James Bond film series has been one of the most successful franchises in cinematic history, with 25 films produced to date, including the upcoming, long-delayed "No Time to Die." The series kicked off, of course, with "Dr. No" in 1962, with Sean Connery playing the dashing British secret agent who goes by the code name 007. Over the years the Bond mantle has been taken up by five other actors: George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

LONDON - Can you turn a wristwatch into an explosive, or perhaps you are able to design some X-ray glasses to see who is carrying a concealed weapon?
If so, perhaps you should apply to be the next "Q" at Britain's MI6 foreign spy service.
The head of Britain's Secret Intelligence Service said on Thursday (April 29) that the spy agency was hunting for a new tech chief, "Director General Q", known to all James Bond movie fans simply as "Q".
"We're looking for a new 'Q'. If you want to serve your country by helping MI6 to develop the operational technology of the future, please take a look," Mr Richard Moore wrote on Twitter.

MI6 seeks real-life 'Q' to equip UK spies with gadgets and gizmos

The head of Britain's Secret Intelligence Service said on Thursday the spy agency is hunting a new technology chief to provide UK spooks with the sort of gadgets and gizmos
familiar to James Bond fans worldwide.
"We’re looking for a new ‘Q’. If you want to serve your country by helping MI6 to develop the operational technology of the future, please take a look," tweeted Richard Moore, who became head of the service in July last year.
In the Bond films, Q furnishes agent 007 with an array of gadgets: from an Aston Martin sports car with passenger ejector seat, to a ballpoint pen that turns into a grenade.

MI6 is hiring for new Director General Q, straight out of James Bond

According to the attached job description, you have till May 26 to apply for the sweet gig. Granted, it may not be as sweet as Peter Burton, Desmond Llewelyn, Geoffrey Bayldon, Alec McCowen, John Cleese, and Ben Whishaw have made it seem over the course of 23 Bond films.
But then again, you probably wouldn’t have to deal with Roger Moore and Sean Connery types mucking up all your best gear.
Probably.
After briefly and genteelly describing its own clandestine affairs, MI6’s job description goes on to read: “You are Q. More formally, you are Director General Q, one of the deputies to the Chief of MI6 (C). MI6 needs to be at the cutting-edge of technology in order to stay ahead.”

More Mr Bean than Mr Bond: MI6 job ad for new tech chief 'Q' contains embarrassing error

Whether its sports cars that turn into submarines, phones which electrocute people or bagpipe flame-throwers, everyone has their favourite James Bond spy gadget.
Whilst the technology expert portrayed most famously by Desmond Llewelyn in the Bond franchise is of course fictional, now you have the chance to be the real 'Q'.
MI6, Britain's foreign intelligence service, is publicly advertising for a role which will see the successful applicant head up a team creating gadgets for Britain's real spies.
However, there appears to have been a mistake in the wording of the introduction to the advert, which was released by recruitment agency Saxton Bampfylde on MI6's behalf.
