Wool and carpet company Cavalier Corporation has announced the resignation of its chief executive just days after receiving a significant government grant.
Last Thursday the company s board announced it had regretfully accepted Paul Alston s resignation as its head after six years in the job.
Last Monday, Cavalier announced its subsidiary Bremworth had received $1.9 million from the Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures fund to go towards the company s $4.9 million strategy of moving away from synthetics to only producing woollen carpets. ....

ISLAMABAD: Former chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lt-Gen (R) Syed Muhammad Amjad has said Pakistan made an agreement with a firm whose one of the representatives was facing punishment for doing fraud and cheating with public.
The retired general made these startling revelations in his statement recorded with the Broadsheet Inquiry Commission. Being the chairman NAB, General Amjad met Ronad Rudman, Jerry James and Dr Pepper as representatives of Trouvons, who convinced the NAB boss that they had the requisite capabilities and resources to recover Pakistan s looted money abroad.
In his statement, General (retd) Amjad said he was informed that a special vehicle company in the name of Broadsheet LLC (Isle of Man) ( Broadsheet ) and International Asset Recovery Company Limited ( JAR ) would be formed solely to deal with the asset recoveries for Pakistan. ....

NCM chief criticised for rejecting proposal of SC-appointed commission

Karachi’s minority and human rights groups have expressed dismay at the Pakistan’s National Commission for Minorities (NCM) for rejecting a recommendation to exclude Islamic topics from compulsory textbooks.
Chela Ram Kewlani, the NCM’s chairman and Hindu activist from Sindh, rejected a report by a Supreme Court-appointed commission that suggested all Islamic content from the single national curriculum should be exclusively placed in the textbooks of Islamic studies/Islamiyat, a subject compulsory only for Muslim students.
Showing their concerns over the NCM head’s statement, leaders of the People’s Commission on Minority Rights (PCMR), an alliance of various minority and human rights group, said Kelwani had supported the violation of the fundamental right of religious minorities guaranteed under Article 22 of Constitution of Pakistan. ....

The chief executive of Qatar Airways has poured cold water on hopes for a rapid recovery in aviation and warned of a need for more co-operation in creating vaccine passports to save the industry.
