The anti-Trump group The Lincoln Project on Wednesday launched an ad seizing on former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s apparent suggestion that a Myanmar-like coup take place in the U.S., arguing that the Republican Party has “crossed a line.”
The one-minute ad, set to run digitally in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday and in the Bedminster, N.J., and New York City media markets Thursday, includes audio from a Dallas conference in which an audience member asked Flynn, “I want to know why what happened in Myanmar can’t happen here?”

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “11th Hour,” host Brian Williams touted an ad by the Lincoln Project comparing American soldiers in World War II to Antifa.
After noting that the anniversary of the Normandy landings is this weekend, Williams said, “If it wasn’t our finest hour, it’s hard to say what was. And the folks at the Lincoln Project are out with a reminder to all.”
Williams then played the ad, which begins, “Who is Antifa? They stormed the beaches of Normandy, parachuted into the French countryside, and gave their lives to face down and fight back against fascism. Democrats and establishment Republicans are supporting Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) to retain the House Republican Conference Chair position amid House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) stating Tuesday Cheney is not “carrying out the message.”
“I have heard from members, concerned about her ability to carry out the job as conference chair, to carry out the [Republican] message,” McCarthy told Fox News in reference to the Republicans’ focus on putting America first.
Democrats immediately joined establishment Republicans in defending Cheney’s family-like style of big government politics.
