A train operator has said its conductors will be warned to stop using the phrase Ladies and gentlemen following a complaint from a non-binary passenger.
London North Eastern Railway said train managers would be told not to use the greeting to avoid offending passengers who might identify as neither male nor female. ....

Superintendent Defends Reading Transgender Book to 1st-Graders

The superintendent of the Bellingham School District in the state of Washington responded to parents’ reactions to the report last week that a first-grade teacher read a transgender book to her young students, by defending his district’s practice of “reading diverse books and learning about all kinds of lives” as “consistent with our values in our strategic plan, The Bellingham Promise.”

Report: Athletes Told to 'Be Quiet' About Trans Weightlifter Ahead of Olympic Qualification

A former Olympic weightlifter claims that female athletes are being told to “be quiet” about transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard ahead of his Olympic debut.
Hubbard is a 43-year-old biological male competing as a woman. Should Hubbard pass the New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) fitness and performance standards, he would become the first trans athlete to compete in the Olympics.
Tracey Lambrechs, a former Olympic weightlifter from New Zealand, expressed disappointment at the prospect of Hubbard taking away the opportunity to compete from women.
“I’m quite disappointed, quite disappointed for the female athlete who will lose out on that spot,” Lambrechs told TVNZ. “We’re all about equality for women in sport but right now, that equality is being taken away from us. ....
