Washington’s “Shot of a Lifetime” lottery campaign, featuring a range of prizes and incentives designed to promote uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine, kicked off this week. Four weekly drawings of $250,000 will lead up to a $1 million grand prize drawing July 13. No deal to keep Swedish primary care clinic open on Bainbridge

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – Swedish Medical Group has confirmed that it will close its primary care clinic on Hildebrand Lane this summer, leaving a swath of patients looking for new health care providers. Swedish said it had attempted to find a new provider to take over its Bainbridge clinic but no deal emerged from those efforts.
A message sent to patients last week by Swedish officials confirmed that the clinic will permanently close on July 2.
“Swedish Medical Group’s departure from Bainbridge Island was a difficult but necessary decision for Swedish Medical Group as we continue striving for long-term sustainability of high-quality patient care,” the message said. “Over the past six months, since our initial communication about the impending closure, we hosted discussions with multiple providers in an effort to secure an agreement with a viable healthcare organization to carry on clinic operations. Unfortunately, we were not able to solidify a deal ....

Ferry delays and shortages systemwide after engine fire, steering failure

After a steering system failure on the M/V Salish on Sunday, the Seattle-Bremerton ferry route will be down to just one-boat service starting June 1.
The boat is anticipated to return later this week, once those repairs are completed. In the meantime, Washington State Ferries warns passengers to plan ahead and give themselves extra travel time as there “will likely be delays during peak travel times.”
