Norwich University names top Corps of Cadets leader for 2021-22 academic year

NORTHFIELD, Vt. Norwich University President Mark C. Anarumo and Commandant of Cadets Col. Michael Titus announced that Matthew Cutting of Niskayuna, New York, has been selected to serve as the 2021-22 Regimental Commander, the highest-ranking cadet of Norwich University’s Corps of Cadets (NUCC).
Cutting, a criminal justice major from the Class of 2022, is contracted with the U.S. Army and is serving as 1st sergeant for the Corps of Cadets’ Cadet Training Company 1. He has served on the Junior Ring Committee and is a member of the Mountain and Cold Weather Company.

China’s rivalry with the United States military, security, economic, cyber and technological will take center stage as the 2021 Peace and War Virtual Summit starts Wednesday.
The seven-week summit, presented by Norwich University’s John and Mary Frances Patton Peace and War Center, includes virtual lectures and discussions by guest speakers and Norwich faculty. Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Charles W. Hooper, a renowned U.S.-China relations expert, will deliver the summit-starting keynote address. ....

Fast-evolving pandemic protocols have raised a plethora of student questions. Last week, university officials worked to answer them.
In a student town hall on Friday, President Mark Anarumo, Senior Vice President of Student Affairs and Technology Frank Vanecek, Corps of Cadets Commandant Col. Michael Titus and Amelia “Millie” Heidenreich, general manager of food contractor Sodexo at Norwich University, answered wide-ranging queries at a virtual town hall.
On Saturday, Titus and student Regimental Commander Caleb Miller posted a second video to explain recognition for rooks, first-year recruits for the Corps. ....

And what to our wondering eyes should appear … but a pair of toy soldiers, a scattering of deer. Led by a mouse, near a pair of  St. Nicks, who was grinning and tall and most surely called Mick.
Norwich University President Mark C. Anarumo demonstrated his yuletide creativity in his first holiday season on campus. By decking Woodbury Hall, he displayed his favorite decorations and followed Gov. Phil Scott’s statewide call for spirit-lifting displays.
Outside Woodbury Hall’s entrance, Anarumo stationed the inflatable soldiers, who wore red duds instead of Corps of Cadets fatigues, and stood at either side of a “toy shop” sign. To the soldiers’ left stood two giant snowpeople, with carrot noses and coal-drop grins. In their scarves and fur hats, they were braced for New England chill, even if snow was scant. ....
