Obiozor emerges new Ohanaeze Ndigbo's president-general

He replaced Chief John Nwodo whose tenure as Ohanaeze’s chief ended at the weekend.
Obiozor polled 304 votes to defeat four other candidates in the election held at the Dan Anyim Stadium in Owerri, Imo State.
The election was witnessed by governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), and Hope Uzodinma (Imo).
The Ohanaeze election was marred by controversy with several groups and individual faulting the processes leading to the exercise.
A group had late last year challenged the choice of Owerri as venue of the election.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, also faulted the composition of the electoral committee for the Ohanaeze election. ....

Group endorses Ambassador George Obiozor for Ohanaeze President General

Pan-Igbo sociopolitical pressure group, the South East Revival Group (SERG) has declared support for the candidature of a Nigerian Professor and diplomat, Ambassador George Obiozor for the position of President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The National Coordinator of the group, Willy Ezugwu in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday urged all Igbo groups and individuals to unanimously throw their weight behind Amb. Obiozor.
According to the group, “looking at the local and international pedigree of Ambassador George Obiozor, a Professor and diplomat of unimpeachable character, Ndigbo should not search further for the next President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. ....

South-East group backs Obiozor to head Ohanaeze

AHEAD of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo election, a pan-Igbo sociopolitical group, the South-East Revival Group has declared support for the candidature of Prof. George Obiozor, for the position of President General of the apex Igbo body.
The President and National Coordinator of the group, Chief Willy Ezugwu, in a statement on Tuesday urged all Igbo groups and individuals to throw their weight behind Obiozor, a former Nigerian ambassador to Israel and the United States of America.
“Looking at the local and international pedigree of Ambassador George Obiozor, a professor and diplomat of unimpeachable character, Ndigbo should not search further for the next President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide,” the statement reads in part. ....

South East Revival Group (SERG) has declared support for Ambassador George Obiozor to emerge as President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
President and National Coordinator of the pan-Igbo socio-political pressure group, Chief Willy Ezugwu, urged all Igbo to unanimously throw their weight behind the former diplomat.

Knowing some of the operational canons that govern the conduct and carriage of judges, I have always wondered how some people will knowingly elect to be judges. They approximate, to me, Catholic priests, who have sworn to live a life of denials, sacrifice, celibacy and devoid of all such other worldly warts. In a sense therefore, I perceive Judges as social celibates. It is for them, I think, the word hallowed should be exclusively ascribed. Their genre in the practice of law is truly hallowed, a sacred judicial calling. They have sworn to be impartial adjudicators on all matters pertaining to human affairs. They can therefore not be seen to have moral wrinkles or character patches. Like Ceaser’s wife, they must be manifestly above board. In a way, they are the measure of truth, the guage of uprightness and fairness; a breed of human folk fitted with moral rampart to fearlessly straighten the crookedness of humanity. ....
