In March, the House passed H.R.1, a bill that, in part, regulates who can or cannot exercise their free speech rights leading up to an election. (In the Senate, this bill is known as S.1.) For instance, organizations participating in mundane issue-based advocacy could be subject to disclosure requirements if they even make a reference to a candidate or elected official in their advertisements.   ....

American and British authorities said Friday that Russian state-sponsored hackers exploited major vulnerabilities in Microsoft’s Exchange Server, which were previously used by at least one Chinese state-sponsored hacking group to compromise potentially thousands of organizations. Texas attorney general unblocks Twitter critics who sued him

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton unblocked nine Twitter users after they sued him for allegedly violating their First Amendment rights to criticize him.
The Texas chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, which represents the plaintiffs in the suit, said their clients were no longer blocked by Paxton as of Thursday.
We’re pleased that Attorney General Paxton has agreed to unblock our plaintiffs in this lawsuit and are hopeful that he will do the same for anyone else he has blocked from his Twitter account simply because he doesn’t like what they have to say,” said Katie Fallow, a senior staff attorney at the Knight First Amendment Institute. ....
