Farmer leaders to attend ninth round of talks with Centre on agri laws without much hope
The ninth round of talks between Central government and farmer unions will be held in New Delhi today. Ahead of the talks, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government is ready to hold talks with farmers leaders with an open mind and expressed hope for positive discussions.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Supreme Court had stayed the implementation of three farm laws till further orders. It had also announced the formation of a committee to hear the grievances of the farmers and the opinion of the government. Bhartiya Kisan Union president Bhupinder Singh Mann, Shetkari Sanghatana Maharashtra president Anil Ghanwat, International Food Policy Research Institute s Pramod Kumar Joshi and agriculture economist Ashok Gulati were appointed on the panel. Mann, however, on Thursday recused himself ....

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that the grand old party will not relent till the three farm laws are repealed. Rahul who led the party s protest in the national capital in support of the agitating farmers, said that the farm laws are not to help farmers, but to finish them. He said that the BJP government will have to withdraw the laws.
