Journalist Zaid Jilani said Monday that violent fighting among people who “really have nothing to do” with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is “counterproductive” for the peace process. “It's really unfortunate to see this because you have to remember, like, if you are involved in the peace movement in the United States your goal is to get people who have been fighting each other for decades, in a quite bloody conflict, to get along with each other, to live in peace,” Jilani said on Hill.TV’s “Rising.” “If you're engaged in violence here in the United States against people that really have nothing to do with the conflict, they have a point of view about it and maybe they share a religious faith or ethnicity with some people, but they really have nothing to do with it. If you're fighting with those people, I think it's very counterproductive,” he continued.
Journalist Zaid Jilani joined Hill.TV's "Rising" on Monday to discuss a controversy surrounding Disney's live-action adaptation of "Mulan," which used footage shot in the Xinjiang province of China during its production and contained a short message thanking authorities in the area in its end credits. Xinjiang and China at large have come over fierce international criticism over the treatment minority Uygurs in the region. Jilani said that Disney's response to the matter did not hold water, with the company arguing that a Chinese production company it partnered with to produce footage shot in China made the decision to film in Xinjiang.
