Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee hospitalised with COVID-19
West Bengal s former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who had tested positive for COVID-19 last week, was admitted at a private hospital in south Kolkata on Tuesday after his health condition deteriorated, officials said.
Later in the afternoon, his wife Mira Bhattacharjee, who was discharged from the facility on Monday after she had recovered from coronavirus, was rushed to the medical establishment following a panic attack, they said. ....

J&K Black Fungus Infection: Black fungus declared an epidemic in J&K

The notification was issued by the Health and Medical Education Department of the Union Territory under Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act 1897. The declaration comes days after the Centre directed the states and UTs to make black fungus a notifiable disease.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday declared black fungus (Mucormycosis) an epidemic and directed health facilities and medical colleges to follow the guidelines for its management. The notification was issued by the Health and Medical Education Department of the Union Territory under Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act 1897.

COVID-19 curfew restrictions extended till 1 June in Uttarakhand
The Uttarakhand government on Monday extended the COVID-19 related curfew period across the state till 1 June.  The period of the ongoing curfew in the state was scheduled to come to an end at 6 am on Tuesday morning. Giving the information , Cabinet Minister and the state government s spokesman Subodh Uniyal said shops dealing in essential commodities like milk, meat, fish, fruits and vegetables will open daily for three hours from 8 am to 11 am during the period.  ....

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], May 24 (ANI): As many as 330 patients infected with Mucormycosis or black fungus are undergoing treatment in Indore, informed Madhya Pradesh Minister Tulsi Silawat on Monday.
The cases in Indore are not only from the city but also from the nearby districts as well, Silawat said after a meeting with Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani and doctors of the health department regarding the pandemic situation in Indore.
Currently, 330 black fungus patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across Indore. Several cases in Indore are from nearby cities, he said. ....

A total of 5,424 cases of mucormycosis, commonly known as ‘black fungus’, have been reported from 18 states, said Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan today during a virtual meeting with a group of ministers on the COVID19 pandemic.
“Of the 5,424 cases of Mucormycosis, we have seen that 4,556 cases have a history of COVID19 infection, while 875 cases are amongst non-COVID patients. Diabetes was present in 55 per cent of the patients,” he said. ....
