An Amtrak train at Bryn Mawr, Pa. traveling westbound towards Pittsburgh In March, Amtrak announced its 2035 Vision plan which included proposals to expand and improve rail service throughout America, with more than 30 new routes and better service on more than 20 existing routes.
Under that plan, Pennsylvania would see three completely new routes serving the eastern part of the state, as well as enhanced service routes throughout the state, including Western Pennsylvania.
Recently, Amtrak released even more details about the 2035 Vision plan, including precisely how many round trip trains it is proposing for each new route. According to the Connect Us report, Pennsylvania cities could see 15 new train round trips. These would connect train travelers to new cities that currently aren’t served by trains   like trips between S ....

Hill gridlock reigns supreme, despite Biden and the media touting bipartisanship

Joe Biden likes to say it’s never a good bet to bet against the American people.
I would expand that to say it’s never a good bet to bet that Congress will get anything done…on any issue.
If the president was wagering that he could beat the odds, he’s going to lose all his chips.
Reporters love to cover process stories: Lawmakers met at the White House. Leaders are optimistic about a breakthrough. The Gang of Eight, or Nine, or Ten is making progress on the bill. That suggests a more hopeful outlook.
And then, almost invariably, the effort collapses. The deal falls apart, One side walks away from the table. There’s an impasse in the final days. And here’s a safe bet for you nothing gets done. ....

Power Up: Working-from-home could be permanent for many federal employees under Biden

Power Up: Working-from-home could be permanent for many federal employees under Biden

THE PANDEMIC WORK-FROM-HOME EXPERIMENT CONTINUES: “As the Biden administration contemplates how to return the massive federal workforce to the office, government officials are moving to make a pandemic experiment permanent by allowing more employees than ever to work from home a sweeping cultural change that would have been unthinkable a year ago,” our colleague Lisa Rein scoops this Monday morning.
“The shift across the government comes after the risk-averse federal bureaucracy had fallen behind private companies when it came to embracing telework a posture driven by a perception that employees would slack off unless they were tethered to their office cubicles. That position hardened during the Trump administration, which dialed back work-from-home programs that had slowly expanded during the Obama era.” ....

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday denied the appeal of a retired federal agent seeking to challenge sweeping legal immunity for police officers after he was injured during an arrest and later blocked from suing for damages.
This big guy grabbed my left hand and with his two hands, he jerked my arm as high as he could. Almost simultaneously, as this guy was jerking my arm, he put a chokehold on my throat very hard, very hurtful, Jose Oliva, 76, said of the 2016 incident at the El Paso, Texas, Veterans Administration hospital. I told them I can’t I cannot breathe, let me go. I cannot breathe. ....
