Iran Offers Prisoner Exchange As U.S. Warns Nuclear Deal Patience May Run Out

Iran and the U.S. remain at odds over the proposed revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal, with the State Department warning Monday its patience was not unlimited after Tehran s repeated dismissal of talks with President Joe Biden s administration.
Iran is demanding that Biden lift sanctions imposed by former President Donald Trump after he left the JCPOA in 2018, refusing to scale back its nuclear program until the measures are eased.
But the White House has said it will make no concessions until Iran curbs its nuclear activity. Still, the administration has said it is open to talks with JCPOA signatories and has rescinded United Nations sanctions that Trump claimed to have reimposed last year, though this move was disputed by the UN Security Council. ....

Washington is the latest state to join nationwide efforts to let convicts once again have a say at the ballot box.
Sponsored by state Rep. Tarra Simmons, D-Kitsap, House Bill 1078 would restore full voting rights to felons while on parole and waive the typical fines that come with seeing those rights restored.
In Washington, certain felony convictions come with 36 months of community custody in which released prisoners must continue reporting to the state Department of Corrections under certain court-mandated conditions. ....

Biden Executive Order Helps Imprisoned Criminals Vote by Mail

President Biden on Sunday signed a sweeping executive order instructing federal agencies to advance Democrat Party objectives for U.S. elections, using the agencies to provide information about voter registration and vote-by-mail applications, including for federal prisoners.
The Biden administration asserted the federal government plays a primary role in providing education about voter registration and combating “misinformation.” His administration is devoted to promoting and defending “the right to vote for all Americans who are legally entitled to participate in elections,” he states in the order.
One of the main objectives listed in the executive action is providing prisoners with educational materials related to voting and facilitating voter registration for eligible prisoners “to the extent practicable.” ....
