Ibrahem Hasan: I grew up on the south side of Chicago, and my father took me to this place called Maxwell Street. Just a quick hit on what Maxwell Street is because, for me, I know. But for other people who are just like, what the hell is that? So, basically, a lot of Blacks migrated up north, they went there for work and they congregated around the street called Maxwell Street, and it’s where the Chicago blues started. And then it also acted as an open-air market for people to sell goods, so my father took me there as a kid. ....

adidas Pledges $1 Million to College Scholarship Fund

The news was announced through a short film spotlighting the power of coaches in young athletes lives. Furthering adidas’ commitment to drive lasting change, the scholarships aim to help remove barriers for underrepresented Black and LatinX youth providing them with resources to progress in their education.
The adidas Legacy program is a basketball platform and long-term commitment to 27 high schools and 810 student athletes from underrepresented communities across New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The program provides resources for training and education, opportunities to participate in community initiatives, and unique access to the brand. The program is equally split with both female and males, including 98% students of color. ....
