Leonardo Fioravanti Shares His Hotel Room Mobility Flow Routine

Staff
Tour surfers are currently locked in their hotel rooms in Australia. A few weeks in a room can drive a person crazy, so competitors are frantically trying to stay busy. Some are literally climbing the walls, some are cooking strange meals, and others are shaving their heads, but you can be sure that all of them are doing various things to keep their bodies ready for the upcoming Rip Curl Newcastle Cup. And Leonardo Fioravanti is one of them.
He was kind enough to let us in on his mobility flow routine. “I do this either before training or when I wake up to get everything moving,” he says.  It’s supposed to loosen everything up, warm up the body and get you ready for whatever is next!

World Surf League CEO Erik Logan Spoke With Us About Tour Changes, Pat O'Connell's Resignation, and More

Erik Logan gives us the rundown. Photo: Erik Logan
What a wild year it’s been. Everyone on Earth has been impacted, not the least of which professional sports leagues. The World Surf League has certainly felt the full brunt of the pandemic. When Erik Logan took over a year ago, the WSL was on a high – Italo Ferreira had just won a world title at Pipe on the last heat of the year. Carissa Moore had won her fourth crown. Things were definitely looking up. Then 2020 happened. A pandemic never before seen gripped the Earth. The World Surf League cancelled the entirety of its season.

World Surf League Cancels 2021 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

We will not see competition on these waves this year. Photo: WSL
The World Surf League continues to deal with every curve ball the pandemic throws at it. This time the League was forced to cancel the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, one of the tour’s most historic events, after an agreement on quarantine could not be reached with the local Victorian Government. The WSL had just announced earlier in the week that the Newcastle Pro had been officially added to the tour. Dropping Bells means there are still three events on the Australian schedule including Margaret River and the Gold Coast.

Will another North Coast council say yes to WSL event?

Ballina Shire Council said no to a proposed World Surf League event slated for Lennox Head in an extraordinary meeting held on Wednesday.
And there doesn't seem much likelihood of another Far North Coast council vying for the event to be held in their patch.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro said on Thursday other regional councils had been in touch with him, hoping to host the event, which was planned for the Easter period.
Mr Barilaro has voiced the state government's upset at Ballina's refusal to welcome the tournament, which would have seen Pat Morton Lookout closed off for almost a month.
