Several major hospitals managed to simultaneously run non-COVID-19 services during the second wave
Unlike during the first wave of COVID-19, several major hospitals in Chennai managed to simultaneously run non-COVID-19 services, except having to suspend elective surgeries. Now, with a steady decline in cases, the number of people visiting outpatient departments is on the rise, and hospitals are all set to resume elective surgeries soon.
Last year, some major hospitals brought their non-COVID-19 services to a halt as the inflow of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 started to rise. However, this has not been the case during the second wave all major government hospitals ran outpatient services by making alternative arrangements. ....

The standoff between Houston Methodist and employees opposed to its mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy came to a head this week with the suspension of 178 full-time or part-time staff, according to an internal email.
The system was the first major provider organization in the country to announce its policy back in late March. At the time, Houston Methodist set an April 15 deadline for its managers and a June 7 cutoff for the rest of its employees. ....

After the oxygen crisis hit the State with many losing lives for the want of oxygen, the health and family welfare department has now issued a circular asking the
hospitals to set up
oxygen plants so that there is no repeat of the crisis when the possible third wave hits the State. As per circular, private medical establishments should install oxygen plants in their premises within four months.
If the hospital has a
total bed capacity of 100-plus beds, then, a Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) or refilling plants create necessary infrastructure which should have sufficient capacity to produce at least two times their normal requirement of oxygen. In case of hospitals has a bed capacity between 50-99, they need to install their own ....
